From a Garage Idea to Family Game Nights Everywhere!

Yo Sabo® started with a simple goal, learning through play without pressure. Carlos (co-founder) wanted to improve his Spanish after always being put under the “No Sabo” kid label. 

What started as a passion project to help people learn tricky Spanish words quickly turned into something much bigger; a game that connects people to their Latino roots and bridges generations together.

When we jumped on this journey in 2022, we knew that building a game from scratch was going to be a massive undertaking, BUT we poured our hearts into it. As Carlos and I got to work we knew we had to include pieces of our childhood so we created three unique card categories:

💚 Cómo se dice Cards: Our translation cards! Where every single word was specifically picked to spark those "Oh, that's how you say it!" moments.

💚 Prueba Time Cards: Our Latino trivia cards! Who doesn't love trivia? 

💚 Chancla Challenge Cards: Chancla means sandal in spanish! These cards have relatable experiences about growing up in a Latino Household and the challenge a player must perform! 

My brother Vic (our incredible graphic designer) created all of the amazing art and poured his heart into this project alongside us. Looking back, all those late nights in the garage were completely worth it.

Whether you grew up completely fluent, know just enough to get by, or are completely new to the language, Yo Sabo was made for you to laugh, learn, and embrace all the different experiences we had growing up. We want everyone to come together, share their stories, and realize that we are all in this together, unidos!
